A message from Charlie Weisinger:
Each year, The Weisinger Scholarship reminds me of why I fell in love with giving. It reminds me of the community who helped me through my own college journey: people who believed in me, supported me, and made it possible for me to chase my dreams. This scholarship is my way of honoring them by helping the next generation.
Community service has always been deeply meaningful to me because it’s the foundation for building better, stronger communities. Real change doesn’t come from one big moment; it comes from many small acts of service and kindness that, together, create a ripple effect. Here’s the beautiful part, while you’re out there giving your time and energy to others, you end up getting much in return. The joy, the connection, the sense of purpose--it’s incredibly rewarding.
This year, we received over 100 applications from students across Texas, all eager to make a difference. Each story moved me. Each act of service, big or small, mattered. Our team reviewed them with great care: every application read by at least three people, narrowed down to the very best, and then passionately debated (yes, sometimes heatedly!) until we found the ones that stood out most.
I’m proud to share that this year, we selected four inspiring recipients. These students are already lighting up their communities with their dedication, and I’m grateful to witness their journey.
Thank you for allowing us to do this work. Together, we’re building something meaningful, one act of service, one student, one brighter community at a time.
Please join us in congratulating:
Caleb Love: $1,000 Scholarship Winner
- Caleb focused on many different service projects, standing in the gaps where his community was in need.
Kristen Nemain: $1,000 Scholarship Winner
- Kristen created a foundation that provided the help she once needed, assistance such as paying for doctor co-pays. Her foundation raised over $22 thousand dollars.
Olivia Sacks: $500 Scholarship Winner
- Olivia started a business making balloons. When she observed how balloons were bringing generations together, she donated all her proceeds into the business to provide more community connection.
Emerie McCann: $500 Scholarship Winner
- Emerie read to children in waiting rooms as they waited for their doctors' appointments. She connected so well with the kids, they began learning to read, as they were eager to read to her.
